We carry an extensive selection of Asian antiques and collectibles at our store in California and are pleased to offer this well carved Chinese Red Coral of the Happy Buddha. This carving was originally purchased from the Chinese government nearly 40 years ago.  At the time, the PRC operated a series of state-owned stores that offered art, jewelry and antiques in exchange for "hard" currency.  This carving measures approximately 1"x 1” and weighs 5.2 grams. It is drilled and would be ideal to mount in jewelry as an ornament or to be worn as a pendant.
