Description
THIS IS AN INTERESTING SET OF 24 USMC LARGE COAT BUTTONS. THEY MEASURE ABOUT 3/4 INCH ACROSS.THEY ARE IN THE ORIGINAL PAPER WRAPPING MOUNTED ON A PIECE OF CARDBOARD. I CHECKED A FEW OF THEM AND THEY WERE MADE BY HORTSMANN, PHILADELPHIA AND ARE SO MARKED.
MY RESEARCH INDICATES THAT THEY WERE IN USE AROUND THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR AND PERHAPS TO WORLD WAR I. I AM NOT ABLE TO CONFIRM MY FINDINGS, PLEASE DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.
THEY ARE BASICALLY UNUSED AND WELL PRESERVE WITH HARDLY ANY TARNISH ON THE FRONT. THEY ARE SERVICEABLE WITH STRAIGHT SHANK. FINE WORKMANSHIP.
PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO VIEW MY OTHER ITEMS. THEY INCLUDE A WIDE VARIETY OF MILITARY ANTIQUES. KEEP ME ON YOUR FAVORITE SELLERS LIST.
