Here is an unusal piece that has the village family name and i understand in Canton.
I understand that the significance of this rare item which is made of wood and animal hide, is to fulfil good luck, properity and prey for protection from negative forces.
It is also possible that many of these items were destroyed in the chinese revolution, as the values of peasant life in rural china changed dramatically.
