Description
A figural Sterling Silver Sugar Bowl in the form of a Coal Scuttle. Beautifully crafted. A swing handle and a spoon in the back of the scuttle. The spoon is a different maker.This is a silversmith who’s works you do not see very often. Herbst & Wassall worked in Newark, New Jersey between 1904 to 1922. The last recorded hallmark for them was in 1931.
Marked on the base STERLING with the logo for Herbst & Wassall, 3037.
Measures approximately, 2 ½” tall without the handle extended x 3”. Weighs approximately, 3.45 oz or 97.80 grams.
Very good condition. A unique item.
