    Description

    I have never seen another one like it and doubt that you have either! Picked this up at the London Horticultural Hall Antique Fair about ten years ago. While I’ve enjoyed it immensely, it’s time for it to go to its next home.
    This is a small tooth, carved with tiny little people. There are different figures on each side and in the middle too- see photos. I count 12-15 figures peeking out of panels. Measures 4” x 1-7/8” x 1-1/4”. The detail is absolutely incredible, and the artist had to have extreme patience! Very very delicate.
    I do not know the maker or Provence but believe it’s Chinese and I would date it to at least pre1900. The string around his neck could be removed, I just didn’t.
