    Description

This 1974 Z1 900cc Kawasaki was  purpose built for speed.  Last licensed in 1982 and the last Virginia inspection was in 1978.  I'm listing this cycle for a good friend who was a "sort of adopted son" of the gentleman and his wife.  Selling for his estate a motorcycle which has been hidden away for 39 years.  It was built entirely for speed and I don't think anyone ever beat him across Shenandoah  Mountain.
The good friend and his son removed the clutch to put the starter back on the bike.  Starters are weight !  The mirrors were where you see them in the pictures because they caused less wind resistance.  However, they're almost useless to see any traffic in the rear, but were necessary in Virginia to pass vehicle inspections.  The wheels are special light weight wheels, no rear fender, no signal lights nothing that you didn't need for the Virginia vehicle inspection was left on as it ""weighed something".  This was his personal "Hot Rod"
The motor is a Z1 900cc bumped to1075cc with Andrews cams & Mikuni smooth bore carburetors with a Kerker Competion 4 into 1 exhaust.  There may be more, but it's been 40 years and we do not know what else may have been done if anything.  The mileage as seen on the speedometer is actual and it has only had about 90 miles put on it since 1982.  25 or so when the friend rode it to my place and I put about 40 or so on it today.  IT IS AWESOME !  Kawasaki's Z1 900's were before you even knew what a "crotch rocket" was.  It's very fast and smooth.  It does need new tires unless you have a death wish.  The "adopted son" ran it to 115 after getting it out of mothballs , but I only took to 100 mph today and neither of us is very smart to do that on old tires or probably at all, but it gets there so easily you don't realize it.  All fluids, oil filter etc have been changed.  Everything works as it should brakes, lights, clutch etc. and it has a new battery.    Put new tires on it and go to Alaska from Virginia if you want as it's that nice a bike.  The 1982 Virginia license plate comes with the bike.  There are a scratch or so here & there and a bubble in chrome in a place or two (gas cap is the most noticeable), but it is a bike made in 1974...47 years ago.
Winning bidder will either pick up the bike at my residence or if they are having it commercially transported it will be picked up at Early's Cycle Center in Harrisonburg, Virginia.  Payment will be made to Early's Cycle Center by whatever means are best to the winner and Early's Cycle Center,   Winning bidder is responsible for making all transportation arrangements and all of the associated cost.  7 day auction, no reserve.
Inspection of the cycle before bidding is welcomed and encouraged as I think you will love it.  Let me know and we can make arrangements to view it at my residence or at  Early's Cycle Center.   Stay tuned as I will also list a 1980 KZ1000 LTD with less than 500 miles from new from the same estate.  Thanks
