This unit is a 1973 H1D originally sold in France and restored with the unique color and livery of that model.
Kawasaki offered the 500cc triple from 1969 thru 1976 with 6 minor variations as the bike was developed.
This model features 2nd generation race tail that partially covered taillight similar to the 750 H2, the more powerful CDI unit from the 750 H2, no steering damper, no rear brake air scoop and rear brake rod replaced rear brake cable.
The bike has been restored and rebuilt in 2021 to a very high standard cosmetically and mechanically.
Restoration performed by noted Kawasaki specialist with all OEM components.
We purchased it from a private collection.
Looks great, starts, runs and burns the quarter mile as the legend states. An amazing bike to ride.
Introduced in 1969 the Kawasaki H1 was a milestone for the company that created an image of high performance for the brand, which previously was little known. The result of a secret development project, the goal was to produce a motorcycle with 500 cc displacement that was able to develop 60 hp and have 13-second quarter-mile times ... the production bike came very close and was a revolutionary machine.
It sold very well in the US, Europe and Japan and earned a reputation for blazing speed and challenging handling.
As a result most of them were trashed or crashes and very few clean examples remain.
This is an immaculate example.
