Description
This auction is for a 16mm Print of the Poverty Row Prison Drama BURIED ALIVE (1939) from PRC starring Robert Wilcox and Beverly RobertsSynopsis: A man is left fighting for his life when he is falsely accused of a crime and sent to prison. When he finds out the reason why he is being held, the prison nurse becomes his only ally.
Directed by Victor Halperin of "White Zombie" fame and has the look of an old Warner Brothers crime drama. Interesting how the film deals with the issue of capitol punishment. It seems to be very much anti-death penalty. This film has been falsely categorized as a horror film by a few sources and even the film's poster suggests this. Despite the film's great title, no one gets buried alive, as the title is metaphorical.
Print is in very nice shape, projects smoothly, and is very watchable and enjoyable. Eastman Stock. No Vinegar Smell. Comes mounted on two reels.
This film appears to be solidly in the public domain.
As always the pictures above are all from the actual film being offered taken while the print was running on a projector. Film is much sharper than pictures indicate. Some pictures might be more out of focus than others due to the camera used NOT the actual print. We never use stock photos!
